Tips for winterizing your home!

  • Keep water trickling through your faucets to be sure that your pipes won’t freeze especially if they run through and unheated area in the house.
  • Check all pipes that are visible. If you see a crack quickly use caulk or aluminum tape to seal the crack.
  • Pouring anti-freeze down the drains can prevent water from freezing in the traps.
  • Be sure that no windows or doors have a leak, if water or air comes through either entrance it can create more problems for your home in the winter.
  • For slow leaks you can use winterizing strips on doorways and caulk to seal off any crack in the windows causing water or air to leak through.
  • Keep proper maintenance up on your furnace.
  • Ensure that the gutters are clean and secure. Any debris can cause the gutters to clog or weigh down which can lead to roof problems and water damage.
  • Get your chimney swept for soot and debris.
